Musical Minno holds rehearsal for Jun Ikeido adaptation

The musical adaptation of Jun Ikeido’s bestselling novel “Minno” held a rehearsal press conference in Tokyo. The production marks the first musical adaptation of Ikeido’s work, depicting the chaos that ensues when the body of Prime Minister Taizan Muto is suddenly swapped with that of his college-student son, Sho.

During the event, actors Shotaro Arisawa and Tetsuya Bessho discussed the challenges of portraying the character swap and the high quality of the musical numbers. Arisawa noted that the script has been specifically tailored for the stage to ensure originality and relevance to modern audiences. The musical features a diverse range of musical styles, from jazz to pop, designed to express the conflicting perspectives of politicians and the public.

Music composer Hayato Sumino praised the cast's performance during the public rehearsal, expressing excitement for the full production. The cast includes Tetsuya Bessho, Shotaro Arisawa, Runa Hayashi, and Naoto Takenaka. The musical is scheduled to tour Japan in late 2026, with performances in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka.
