Musical performances in Italy explore themes of conflict and migration

Various musical performances in Italy are using art to explore complex social and human themes. In Fondi, composer and saxophonist Alfredo Cerrito performed an electroacoustic improvisation titled ‘Cinema sotto le Stelle’. The performance utilized saxophone, live electronics, and poetry to transform the concept of conflict—musical, interpersonal, and geopolitical—into a shared space of listening and sonic metamorphosis.

In Udine, the ‘Armonie in città’ series, curated by the Fondazione Luigi Bon, presents ‘Migrantes – Un viaggio in musica tra speranza e umanità’. Featuring guitarist Francesco Buzzurro and the Goffriller String Quartet, the musical poem uses compositions by Ennio Morricone, Chick Corea, and Astor Piazzolla to reflect on the Mediterranean migration crisis, focusing on themes of hope, human dignity, and the journey of those seeking a better future.
