Musical star Deborah Sasson suffers neck fracture in Italy crash

Deborah Sasson, a 66‑year‑old US‑born soprano and musical theatre performer, suffered a neck fracture and additional lower‑back vertebra injuries when her Mercedes slipped under a 4‑wheel‑drive vehicle near Mantua, Italy, while she and her husband Dieter Tings were returning to their home in Hessen, Germany. The accident left Tings unharmed; Sasson was first taken to a hospital in Mantua where a delayed MRI postponed diagnosis. After three days, the ADAC organized her transport back to Germany, where further spinal injuries were identified. She now wears a stabilising brace and, according to her husband, is recovering well enough to intend to resume her planned live show "The Music in Me" in November and a tour of "Phantom of the Opera" slated for December 2026.

The incident has drawn attention in German media, highlighting both her health status and upcoming performance commitments.
