Musical theater productions scheduled for tour across Rio de Janeiro

Several musical productions are scheduled for performances across Rio de Janeiro in October.

The musical comedy ‘Maldita’, winner of the 20th APTR Award for Direction, will hold three performances at the Teatro TotalEnergies – Sala Adolpho Bloch in Glória from October 1 to 3. Directed by Rohan Baruck, the production features 21 artists, primarily from the LGBTQIAPN+ community, and uses irony and drag elements to revisit Greek tragedies such as ‘Oedipus Rex’ and ‘Antigone’. The project originated from workshops at the Escola Popular de Teatro da Baixada, an initiative of the Instituto Cultural Cerne.

Additionally, the musical ‘Um Rio Dentro de Mim’ is embarking on a tour through the state of Rio de Janeiro as part of the Sesc Pulsar program. The production, which has received two Rio Musical Award nominations, tells the story of two sisters discovering their mother's history through letters set to classic songs by artists such as Vinicius de Moraes and Elza Soares. The tour includes stops in Petrópolis, Nova Friburgo, Ramos, Madureira, São João de Meriti, and Nova Iguaçu.
