Musical tributes and performances held in Durango

The Teatro Victoria hosted “Una historia de amor y muerte,” a musical tribute to Chavela Vargas and José Alfredo Jiménez. Directed by Raúl Sánchez and featuring Artistas Unidos, the production was part of the Muuki 2026 Day of the Dead Festival. The event aimed to preserve Mexican cultural traditions through a live scenic-musical proposal that included literature and musical arrangements.

Additionally, Mexican soprano Edna Rendón Butchart performed in Durango as part of her “Voz Sin Límites” tour. The two-hour concert blended lyrical technique with romantic classics, rock, and Mexican music. Accompanied by an eight-piece ensemble under the artistic direction of Leopoldo Carrillo Villa, the repertoire spanned various genres, including contemporary ballads and classic hits.
