Musician Bijan Mortazavi returns to Iran

Musician Bijan Mortazavi has officially returned to Iran, appearing in a live video from Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran alongside his wife. His arrival follows a period of conflicting reports; while he initially denied rumors of his return via Instagram, he later confirmed his presence in the country.

There is significant public speculation regarding whether Mortazavi will receive permission to perform concerts within Iran. Some reports have suggested the possibility of a performance at the historic Persepolis site, a venue that has seen limited musical activity in recent years.

Mortazavi is a multi-instrumentalist known for his violin work, having studied piano, guitar, tar, santur, and oud. After moving to the United Kingdom to study engineering and later settling in California, he became a prominent figure in the Iranian diaspora, notably performing at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles in 1994.
