German singer‑songwriter Clueso staged a concert on Erfurt’s Domplatz while the AfD’s federal party congress was held in the city on July 4‑5. During the show he told the audience, “I want to say Heimat,” insisting he would not be silenced.

Police reported roughly 31,000 participants in the surrounding demonstrations, sit‑ins and rallies, while organisers claimed up to 50,000. Authorities said the protests remained largely peaceful, with a few isolated incidents. Thüringen’s interior minister Georg Maier (SPD) described the overall calm, and trade unions and civil‑society groups had called for nationwide actions against the congress.
