Musician Mousumi Bhowmik responds to song similarity claims

Singer Mousumi Bhowmik has addressed social media discussions regarding alleged similarities between her popular song, “Ami Shunechi She Din,” and the track “Tu Mil Jaaye” from the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan film, “King.”

Responding to a listener on social media, Bhowmik stated that she had not heard the new song until it was pointed out to her. While she acknowledged that musicians often work with similar permutations of notes and scales, she noted that she did not personally perceive a direct connection between the two works. She explained that musical influences, such as the musical phases of Vaishnava Padavali, can shape melodies, but emphasized that her compositions grow from those seeds into unique expressions.

Bhowmik also reflected on the nature of musical influence, noting that all artists carry shadows of their inspirations, whether consciously or unconsciously. She dismissed the idea that any perceived similarity would be problematic unless it was a direct, intentional copy.
