Musician Nathan Smith dies after tractor collision in Stoke-on-Trent

Musician Nathan Smith, 45, has died following a collision with a tractor in Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning on Shelton New Road in the Cliffe Vale area.

Emergency services, including the West Midlands Ambulance Service and a Midlands Air Ambulance, responded to the scene around 8:20 a.m. Smith was transported to a hospital in critical condition but passed away shortly after arrival. Staffordshire Police confirmed the accident involved a tractor and a pedestrian, noting that the tractor driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

Smith was a self-taught bassist and a prominent figure in the local music scene. He was a member of the band MFK, which previously performed as a support act for The Wombats at Trentham Gardens. He also co-ran the UTC recording studio in Longton with Tom Bath.

In a statement, his family described him as an ‘immensely talented musician’ and an ‘incredible father’ who was ‘universally adored.’ Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash and have requested that anyone with information contact them via the 101 service.
