Musician Neil Henderson dies at 73

Scottish musician Neil Henderson has died at the age of 73 following a period of ill health. Henderson was a guitarist for both the Bay City Rollers and the group Middle of the Road.

He was a member of the Bay City Rollers from 1970 to 1972, performing on their debut chart single, ‘Keep On Dancing’. He left the band shortly before they achieved global fame, reportedly due to disagreements regarding the group's musical direction. He subsequently joined Middle of the Road, which achieved significant success with the number-one hit ‘Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep’.

Former bandmates from Middle of the Road honored him on social media, describing him as their ‘original lead guitarist, songwriter and friend’. He is survived by his two daughters, Heather and Shona.
