Musicians highlight cultural heritage through performance and teaching

Argentine guitarist and lutenist Miguel de Olaso performed a recital at the Capilla Nuestra Señora de Traful, focusing on the origins of the guitar. De Olaso, who studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland, utilized a 17th-century guitar replica to demonstrate the delicate and warm sounds of the era. During the event, he engaged with the audience by discussing the evolution of the instrument and historical methods of musical notation.

In Cuba, musician Juan Rumualdo García Ramírez continues a career spanning over five decades in performance, teaching, and musical direction. Recognized as an ‘Hijo Ilustre de Manzanillo,’ García Ramírez has received several honors, including the 2024 Provincial Music Prize and the 2017 Aportes a la Cultura Nacional diploma. His work emphasizes the connection between artistic creation and cultural education.
