Muskingum County coordinates recovery after severe flooding
Muskingum County, Ohio, is managing recovery efforts following a second round of severe weather and extreme flooding that impacted villages including Roseville, Crooksville, Chandlersville, and East Pike. While no life-threatening injuries were reported from the storms, one fatality occurred due to a victim succumbing to a medical condition while displaced.
The Ohio National Guard and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) are assisting with cleanup efforts following a governor’s declaration. Local officials have advised residents to be cautious of flooded roadways and the risk of falling trees due to softened ground.
Recovery resources include a dedicated phone line through Muskingum County Job and Family Services for disaster assistance. The Muskingum County Community Foundation is managing monetary donations through the Community Cares Fund, while physical donations are being distributed from the Old Roseville School. Officials have requested that volunteers work through established channels, such as the American Red Cross, rather than self-deploying.
