Mussomeli Carabinieri station inaugurates protected room for violence victims
A new protected listening room, titled ‘Una stanza tutta per Sé’ (A room all for oneself), has been inaugurated at the Carabinieri station in Mussomeli. Developed in collaboration with the Soroptimist International Club of Caltanissetta, the initiative is designed to provide a safe space for women victims of violence and other vulnerable individuals.
The project is a local implementation of a national memorandum of understanding between the Carabinieri and Soroptimist, which was recently renewed on November 7, 2025, by General Salvatore Luongo and Adriana Macchi. This updated protocol introduces a ‘portable’ version of the project, featuring a kit equipped with a notebook and integrated micro-camera to record audio and video during reports and testimonies. This kit is intended for deployment across various Carabinieri units, even in locations that lack a permanent dedicated listening room.
The strategic goal of this agreement is to establish suitable and welcoming environments throughout Italy to reduce the trauma experienced by victims during the reporting process.
