Mustafa Destici discusses Yazıcıoğlu investigation and political alliances
Büyük Birlik Partisi (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici addressed the ongoing investigation into the helicopter crash that killed former BBP leader Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu 17 years ago. Speaking at a meeting in Kocaeli, Destici stated that the party has actively pursued the case for nearly two decades. He noted that while two previous decisions of non-prosecution were issued, the BBP successfully had those decisions overturned to ensure the investigation continues.
Destici expressed hope that the efforts of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Justice Minister Akın Gürlek to clarify unsolved cases in Turkey would lead to a resolution in the Yazıcıoğlu file. He emphasized that those responsible for any intent or negligence in the accident must be held accountable under the law.
Regarding domestic politics, Destici confirmed that the BBP remains a member of the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı) and that their presidential candidate is the current President. However, he acknowledged policy differences within the alliance, particularly concerning terrorism and economic issues such as support for farmers and minimum wage adjustments.
