Mustafa Şentop delivers opening lecture at Eskişehir Osmangazi University

Former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Mustafa Şentop, delivered the opening lecture for the 2026-2027 academic year at Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ).

During his speech, titled ‘Where can you go without knowing who you are?’, Şentop emphasized the importance of personal history, values, and ability. He advised students to write their own histories during their university years rather than following the paths set by others. He described identity as a ‘three-legged stool’ consisting of personal history, values, and capability, noting that if any leg is missing, one becomes unstable.

Şentop also addressed Turkey's global standing, stating that the country is being closely watched by the world in politics, science, economy, trade, and culture. He suggested that both friends and adversaries perceive Turkey as a much larger and more significant actor than those living within its daily domestic challenges, such as inflation and political debates.
