Mustafa Kamal calls for new provinces in Pakistan

Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has stated that the creation of new provinces is essential to strengthen and stabilize Pakistan. He argued that the current administrative structure continues to cause issues regarding the fair distribution of power and resources.

Kamal noted that while the federal government transfers significant funds to provinces under the NFC Award—including 8,884 billion rupees in the current budget—governance issues and the provision of basic facilities to the public remain unresolved. He observed that following the 18th Amendment, much authority was transferred to the provinces, effectively dividing the country into four parts.

Due to population growth and increasing administrative needs, Kamal suggested that the current system requires revision. He emphasized that creating smaller administrative units and new provinces could help bring authority closer to the people and improve the delivery of essential services. He called for a national-level discussion involving all political parties and stakeholders, noting that this is a matter of the country’s administrative and economic future.
