Mustafa Kemal Atatürk commemorated on 88th anniversary of death

Various ceremonies and commemorative events are being held to mark the 88th anniversary of the passing of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

In Turkey, Sabiha Gökçen International Airport hosted a unique event where passengers used a nostalgic telephone to record voice messages expressing their respect and longing for Atatürk. In Kütahya, an official commemoration was held at the Akşemseddin Mosque for Yusuf Sezai Sevil, a former AK Party official. Additionally, the Entrepreneur Women Business Association (GİŞKAD) visited Anıtkabir to mark its 20th anniversary and reaffirm its commitment to Republican values.

In Northern Cyprus, nationwide commemorations include sirens at 09:05, the lowering of flags to half-mast, and official ceremonies in Lefkoşa, Girne, and Gazimağusa. The Lefkoşa program includes wreath-laying at the Atatürk Monument and speeches by officials, including President Tufan Erhürman.

At Anıtkabir, a delegation from the General Directorate of Security, led by Director Ali Fidan, visited the mausoleum to pay respects and sign the special register, emphasizing the police force's commitment to protecting the Republic.
