Mustafa Verkaya, former MHP Istanbul Deputy, passes away

Mustafa Verkaya, a prominent figure in the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and the Turkish political landscape, has passed away following a period of health issues.

Verkaya held several significant positions throughout his career, including serving as the Istanbul Deputy in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and as a Deputy Chairman of the MHP. Prior to 1980, he served as the President of the Istanbul Ülkü Ocakları. Born in Kahramanmaraş in 1954, he later moved to Istanbul for his university education.

A funeral ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Fatih Mosque in Istanbul, following the Friday prayer. The ceremony is expected to be attended by MHP officials, former and current members of parliament, members of the Ülkü Ocakları, and various figures from the political and business sectors.
