Mustafapaşa historical sites digitized via QR codes
Kapadokya University (KÜN) has launched a project in the Mustafapaşa town of Ürgüp, Nevşehir, to preserve and promote its historical stone mansions and structures through a digital database.
As part of the initiative, QR codes have been placed at 55 different locations throughout the town. Visitors can scan these codes to access a website in both Turkish and English, providing detailed information regarding the history and architectural features of the sites. The project aims to transform the town into an open-air museum and ensure that future restoration efforts are carried out in accordance with the original designs.
The inventory includes various historical structures such as mansions, churches, mosques, madrasas, and fountains. Mustafapaşa, which was named the ‘Best Tourism Village’ by the United Nations World Tourism Organization in 2021, is noted for its well-preserved civil architecture.
