Mustafe Muuse sets personal best in 10,000m European Championships
Finnish distance runner Mustafe Muuse finished 18th in the men's 10,000 meters at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. Despite the lower placement, Muuse set a new personal best for the distance with a time of 29:17.11.
Muuse, who expressed that he was not feeling his best and experienced some health sensations during the race, noted that he completed the event through determination. He previously stated ambitions to break Lasse Virén's Finnish 5,000-meter record before transitioning to road racing, including half-marathons and marathons.
The race was won dominantly by Sweden's Andreas Almgren, who finished nearly two minutes ahead of Muuse. Almgren's victory set a new championship record, breaking a mark that had stood since 1978. Switzerland's Dominic Lokinyomo Lobalu took silver, and France's Jimmy Gressier took bronze.
