Mustafizur Rahman signs with Melbourne Renegades for BBL 16

Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has signed with the Melbourne Renegades for the 2026–27 Big Bash League season. This marks the first appearance for the left-arm pacer in Australia’s premier T20 competition.

Mustafizur, known as ‘The Fizz’, joins the squad to replace Australian fast bowler Jason Behrendorff, who is sidelined following shoulder surgery. The 31-year-old brings significant experience to the franchise, having taken over 400 wickets in T20 cricket worldwide.

Renegades head coach Luke Ronchi described Mustafizur as a proven match-winner capable of delivering breakthroughs during both the powerplay and the death overs. To celebrate the signing, the club has launched ‘The Fizz Bay’, a dedicated fan initiative for the Bangladeshi cricket community at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for select fixtures.

Mustafizur is expected to join the squad after completing his commitments in the ILT20. He joins an overseas roster that includes Jonny Bairstow and Michael Bracewell.
