Mustang electricity and internet services disrupted by floods
Floods, landslides, and river erosion triggered by continuous rainfall have caused a 36-hour disruption of electricity and internet services in the Mustang district of Nepal.
Infrastructure damage occurred along the 33-kV transmission line from Dimukha in Parbat, as well as in the Myagdi section. This damage prevented the Dana substation in Myagdi from operating, forcing a shutdown. Additionally, fallen trees damaged electricity poles in Thasang Rural Municipality-3.
Internet services were interrupted after optical-fiber infrastructure was damaged at dozens of locations across Parbat and Myagdi. While fiber-optic connectivity was lost, Nepal Telecom reported that telephone and 4G services remained operational in some areas via radio links. Technical teams have been dispatched to assess the damage and restore regular services, with officials aiming for full restoration by Monday evening.
