Mustapha Hadji criticizes Sofyan Amrabat over national team stance

Former Moroccan international Mustapha Hadji has publicly criticized midfielder Sofyan Amrabat for conditioning his return to the Moroccan national team on the departure of coach Mohamed Ouahbi.

Speaking to Kooora, Hadji emphasized that representing the national team is an honor that should transcend personal disagreements with coaching staff. He argued that Amrabat plays for the country and its flag rather than for any specific individual, stating, “You are not above the selection, nor the coach, nor the Moroccan flag.”

Hadji maintained that while Amrabat’s past contributions to the team are respected, his achievements do not grant him the right to demand a change in leadership as a prerequisite for playing. He urged the player to accept the honor of representing Morocco regardless of who is in charge.
