Mustapha Ramid praises Moroccan Friday sermon on Prophet's role

Former Minister of Justice Mustapha Ramid has praised a recent Friday sermon delivered across Morocco's mosques on September 4, 2026. The sermon, titled ‘The Prophet as an Educator and Teacher,’ was organized by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in coordination with the Supreme Scientific Council.

Ramid commended the sermon for its elegant style and its ability to address the topic of the Prophet’s illiteracy (ummiya) without engaging in ‘useless controversy’ that contradicts the sanctity of the pulpit. He noted that the sermon successfully linked the subject to religious and national occasions, including the Royal Message celebrating the Prophet's birth and the start of the academic year.

In a social media post, Ramid argued that while the Prophet’s illiteracy is a ‘distinction in his case by virtue of prophethood,’ it would be a ‘deficiency in the case of others,’ emphasizing the importance of knowledge. He called on authorities responsible for preparing Friday sermons to continue selecting meaningful topics that increase faith and religious awareness among citizens.
