Mutapa Investment Fund set for dividend surge as gold output ramps up

Zimbabwe’s state-owned Mutapa Investment Fund (MIF) anticipates a substantial increase in dividend payouts after a sharp rise in gold production and expansion of its lithium, platinum and chrome operations. Chief executive John Mangudya said the fund is moving into a phase where years of investment will translate into higher earnings and cash flow, with plans to boost gold output to 500 kg per month within the next one to two years. Investment of about US$2 million is being reinvested into the mining business to drive this growth.

In the most recent financial report, Mutapa Gold Resources – the fund’s minerals unit – paid a US$5 million dividend for the period ending 31 December 2025, contributing to a total dividend pool of several million dollars declared over the nine‑month period. The payout reflects strong gold prices, operational efficiencies and a US$2 million pipeline of expansion projects aimed at nearly doubling gold output in the coming years. The fund’s broader strategy includes leveraging improved lithium export performance and higher platinum prices to diversify revenue and fund further expansion without relying on Treasury support.
