Mutari Momoh impresses in debut for NK Istra 1961
Eighteen-year-old Nigerian defender Mutari Momoh delivered a standout performance in his first league start for NK Istra 1961 during a 2-0 victory against Slaven Belupo. Standing 196 centimeters tall, Momoh played the full 90 minutes, recording ten clearances and helping the team secure a clean sheet.
Momoh joined the Pula-based club after training with the Italian side Udinese and being scouted during the Viareggio Cup. He signed a professional contract with Istra 1961 through the summer of 2030.
His emergence is part of a broader strategic focus on youth development at NK Istra 1961. The club currently maintains the youngest average player age in the SuperSport HNL at 21.3 years. Under the guidance of academy coordinator Andro Fistonić, the club has established a system that produces talent for both the first team and significant future transfers.
