Mutxamel celebrates Moros y Cristianos festivals with grand parade

The Moros y Cristianos festivals in Mutxamel have commenced with a grand 'Entrada' parade, featuring eleven groups including dancers, acrobats, and musicians. This year's procession lasted over four hours and included significant references to local family legacies, specifically noting that the families leading the Piratas and Zegríes captaincies are the same as those who held the positions in 1999.

A major component of the festivities involves the use of gunpowder. The Festival Commission has requested over 300 kilograms of gunpowder specifically for the 'arcabucería' acts, which will be used by approximately 170 shooters, including 20 newcomers. When combined with the 400 kilograms allocated for pyrotechnics, the total amount of gunpowder used during the celebrations will exceed 700 kilograms.
