MUVEC museum opens Klimt, Schiele, and Kokoschka exhibition

The MUVEC museum in Mestre has inaugurated a new exhibition titled ‘Klimt, Schiele, Kokoschka and the body in contemporary art’. Managed by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, the exhibition runs from September 26 to February 14.

The showcase features prominent works from the Viennese Secession movement, including Gustav Klimt’s ‘Judith II’, which returns to the mainland after ten years. The exhibition also includes works by Egon Schiele and 17 pieces by Oskar Kokoschka, provided by his foundation in Switzerland.

The exhibition uses the human body as a central theme to explore personal, social, and cultural anxieties. The artistic journey connects the classical approaches of Klimt, Schiele, and Kokoschka to contemporary artists such as Piero Manzoni, Gina Pane, and Ana Mendieta, illustrating how the human figure reflects societal transformations and identity.
