Muzaffarpur bus collision kills one and injures 50

A head-on collision between two buses occurred on the Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi National Highway (NH-22) in Bihar on Wednesday afternoon. The accident, involving the ‘Girja’ and ‘Sanowar’ buses, took place near the Bedau/Gopalpur area under the Aurai police station jurisdiction.

One person, identified as Sujit Kumar from Sitamarhi, died in the crash. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle due to the force of the impact, requiring police and locals to use a cutting machine to extract the body. Approximately 50 passengers sustained injuries, with several reported to be in serious condition. The injured were transported to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) and other local healthcare centers for treatment.

Witnesses indicated that both buses were traveling at high speeds at the time of the collision. The accident caused significant traffic congestion on NH-22 until authorities cleared the wreckage. Local police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident through technical analysis of the vehicles' speeds and other factors.
