Muzaffarpur: Family performs cremation at in-laws' doorstep after bride's suspicious death

In the Mushari police station area of Muzaffarpur, Bihar, the body of 19-year-old Gunja Kumari was found under suspicious circumstances in her bedroom. Deep marks on her neck have led to allegations of murder. The victim had entered a love marriage with Kundan Kumar in January of this year.

Gunja’s family alleges that her in-laws had been harassing her for dowry since the wedding. Following her death, the in-laws reportedly fled the residence. In a protest against the alleged crime and seeking justice, the victim's grieving family performed her cremation at the threshold of the in-laws' main door rather than at a traditional crematorium.

Local police have registered a case of dowry death against the husband, Kundan Kumar, and three others: Chandan Paswan, Priyanka, and Sulekha. Authorities are currently conducting raids to apprehend the accused.
