Muzaffarpur police solve double murder of businessman and wife

Police in Muzaffarpur have solved the mystery of a couple who went missing three months ago. Manoj Bhagat, a laptop businessman, and his wife Meenu Devi were murdered by Manoj’s younger brother, Avinash (also known as Anuj Bhagat), following a long-standing dispute over ancestral property.

Authorities recovered skeletal remains from bushes near the Radha Swami Satsang Ashram in the Bochahan police station area. The remains, which had been wrapped in bedsheets and blankets before being discarded, are being sent for DNA testing to confirm identification.

The couple had been missing since the night of May 20, 2026. Following the disappearance, bloodstains were discovered at their residence, and forensic investigations confirmed the presence of human blood. The victim's daughter had expressed suspicion toward her uncle from the beginning, alleging he killed her parents to seize their property.
