Muzaffarpur schools shut through Aug 10 amid Kanwar Yatra security

The district magistrate of Muzaffarpur, Uttar Pradesh, Umesh Mishra, issued an order closing all schools and colleges in the district from 3 August to 10 August. The closure is intended to facilitate security and traffic management during the Kanwar Yatra pilgrimage, which began on 30 July and will continue until Shivratri on 11 August. The pilgrimage draws large crowds from several Indian states, prompting authorities to suspend regular classes to keep roads clear and maintain public safety.

The decision affects students, teachers and staff across the district, halting academic activities for a week while the government coordinates police and other security measures for the event.
