MÁV-csoport and Magyar Közút save 41 billion HUF in vehicle procurement

MÁV-csoport and Magyar Közút have secured a joint vehicle procurement deal that resulted in savings of over 41 billion HUF compared to initial estimates. Minister Dávid Vitézy announced that the winning bid for the four-year lease and full fleet management of 4,113 vehicles—comprising passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and special purpose vehicles—totaled 47.7 billion HUF, significantly lower than the estimated net value of 89.1 billion HUF.

The procurement, managed by MÁV Szolgáltató Központ, utilized an electronic auction to drive competition. Vitézy noted that some items were even cheaper than those in 2017 contracts, despite nearly a decade of inflation. The new agreement, awarded to Mercarius Flottakezelő Kft., is critical as current fleet contracts expire in November and cannot be extended. Vitézy attributed the success to transparent conditions and genuine price competition, which helped protect taxpayer funds.
