MÁV-csoport intercity buses may deny boarding despite valid tickets
Passengers using intercity buses in Hungary may face issues where purchasing a ticket online does not guarantee boarding. This problem primarily affects routes where seat reservation is not available, such as the Pécs–Balatonlelle, Pécs–Kaposvár, and Pécs–Szekszárd lines.
According to the MÁV-csoport customer service, a pre-purchased ticket does not always guarantee boarding if the vehicle reaches full capacity in the interim. This is particularly problematic on popular routes that serve multiple settlements and stops, as the MÁV Plusz application does not provide information regarding remaining available capacity when reservations are disabled.
In instances where a passenger is unable to board due to a full bus, they can request a certificate of non-boarding from the driver. To initiate a refund, passengers must email this certificate, their ticket, and their bank account details to the designated MÁV-csoport email address.
