MVRDV designs textile-inspired WOMA complex in Miami

Architecture studio MVRDV has designed WOMA, a new residential and commercial complex located in the Wynwood Norte district of Miami. The project, developed by Uribe Schwarzkopf with an investment of US$100 million, features a textile-inspired facade designed to reflect the neighborhood's connection to the fashion industry.

The 23,000 square meter development consists of seven floors and includes 163 apartments, 16 offices, and retail spaces. To avoid a monolithic appearance, the design utilizes a colorful facade with blue, green, orange, red, and silver segments, alongside varying widths between cavities and different vertical rhythms.

The complex is centered around an elevated public plaza intended to foster community interaction and pedestrian connectivity. Interior design elements include a main staircase featuring the MANI mosaic pattern by Fornasetti, aiming to integrate art and high craftsmanship into the urban living experience.
