Myanmar Embassy Opens in Managua, Deepening Nicaragua Ties

Myanmar inaugurated its embassy in Managua, marking the first resident diplomatic mission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Nicaragua. The ceremony was attended by Nicaraguan officials including co‑minister of Foreign Affairs Valdrack Jaentschke, presidential adviser Laureano Ortega Murillo, Assembly President Gustavo Porras and other state representatives, alongside Myanmar Ambassador U Htun Aung Kyaw.

The two governments said the new embassy will expand cooperation in agriculture, industry, energy, mining, manufacturing, tourism and joint work in multilateral organisations. Trade between the countries reached roughly $2.571 billion in the 2025‑2026 fiscal year, and officials highlighted further opportunities to increase commercial exchange and cultural, educational and tourism links.
