Myanmar teenager killed by lightning strike near Pattaya
A 17-year-old Myanmar national, identified as Si Jung Maw, died following a suspected lightning strike near Pattaya, Thailand. The incident occurred on the afternoon of October 3 during heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Huai Yai subdistrict of Bang Lamung.
The victim was reportedly walking through a tree tunnel area near Rural Highway 2081 when the strike occurred. An orchard owner discovered the teenager lying unconscious by the roadside and transported him back to the workers’ housing to seek help. Despite efforts to assist him, the youth succumbed to his injuries.
Rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation arrived at the scene to find the victim's clothing torn and charred. Huai Yai police are investigating the death, and the body is scheduled to be sent to Wat Yannasangwararam Hospital for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
