Mychal Threets, the librarian and host of the PBS reboot of ‘Reading Rainbow’, has shared an update regarding his mental health following a five-day psychiatric hold.

In a candid social media video, Threets expressed that while he is currently safe, he has not been okay for a significant period. He apologized to his followers for the concern his recent posts caused and emphasized that his recovery is an ongoing process. ‘I am not okay, but I have hope I will get to okay,’ he stated, noting that finding stability will take time.

Threets expressed gratitude toward medical professionals, including doctors and nurses, stating, ‘You saved my life.’ He also thanked his family, friends, and the online community for their support during his struggle.
