MyCheck digital identity wallet launched by Dutch coalition
A coalition of Dutch organizations, including ABN AMRO, Achmea, ASN Bank, Deloitte, KPN, and Rabobank, has developed MyCheck, an independent digital identity wallet. Designed to comply with European eIDAS 2.0 regulations, the app allows users to securely manage their digital identities and personal data.
Through the MyCheck app, citizens can perform various digital tasks such as logging in, verifying their age, signing contracts, and sharing specific information for services like passport or driver's license applications. A key feature of the system is user autonomy, as individuals determine exactly which pieces of data are shared with companies or government entities, ensuring they provide no more information than is strictly necessary.
The coalition has offered to collaborate with the Dutch government to implement the wallet at no cost to the state or its users. This initiative is positioned as a strategic Dutch alternative to services provided by major international technology companies. The development comes ahead of the end-2026 deadline, by which all EU member states must have implemented digital identity systems.
