Mykhailo Fedorov challenges Zelenskyy administration
Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has emerged as a prominent critic of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following his dismissal in mid-July. Fedorov has publicly called for the restoration of democratic processes, including the holding of elections, even during the ongoing state of war. He proposed creating legal mechanisms to allow soldiers, citizens abroad, and residents of frontline areas to vote.
Fedorov has criticized the current administration for systemic governance crises, citing corruption, bureaucracy, and centralized decision-making as factors that weaken the military's combat effectiveness. He suggested that his efforts to combat corruption in military procurement may have contributed to his removal.
Reports indicate that Fedorov is considering a visit to the United States, potentially as early as next week. While the Zelenskyy administration has stated it has no knowledge of such plans, Fedorov reportedly maintains contact with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk regarding the use of Starlink terminals against Russian ballistic missiles. His political future remains a subject of speculation, with discussions surrounding potential support from American technology leaders.
