Mykolas Romeris University opens new Sūduva Academy building in Marijampolė

Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) officially opened its new Sūduva Academy building in the center of Marijampolė on August 31. Located at Jono Basanavičius Square, the four-story facility is designed to serve as a hub for students, researchers, and the broader Sūduva region community.

The academy was reorganized and integrated into MRU in October 2024. The new building aims to strengthen higher education within the region, allowing young people to pursue quality studies without leaving the area. The academy has already seen its first waves of graduates, with recent cohorts focusing on fields such as social work and preschool pedagogy.

The opening ceremony was attended by university leadership, regional representatives, and government officials, including the Minister of Education, Science and Sport. The facility provides modern spaces for studies, scientific research, and community initiatives.
