Mykonos hotel employee files lawsuit over labor abuses

A hotel employee in Mykonos has filed a lawsuit against management, alleging labor violations and degrading treatment. The worker claims that approximately one and a half months after starting a fixed-term contract in May 2026, his lunch was served to him in a used cat food container, an incident he describes as an affront to his dignity.

Following his protest regarding the meal, the employee alleges he was informed the next day that his employment was being terminated. The lawsuit also includes allegations of financial irregularities, specifically that a portion of his agreed-upon wages was paid ‘under the table’ to avoid official declarations, and that mandatory social security contributions were not fully met.

Additionally, the complaint raises concerns regarding privacy and data protection. The employee alleges that the hotel's camera system, which reportedly records both video and audio, may be used to monitor staff and guests beyond standard security purposes.
