Mykonos tourism sees price drops amid falling arrivals

Mykonos has experienced a significant shift in its tourism market, characterized by a decline in air arrivals and substantial price reductions. While Greece saw record passenger numbers across fourteen regional airports in 2025, Mykonos and Santorini were the only destinations to see a downturn.

Data from the first four months of 2026 indicated that air arrivals to Mykonos fell by 21.7 percent. This decline has been attributed to pricing and a changing visitor profile, including an increase in cruise ship day-trippers who spend less per person than overnight guests.

To recover summer numbers, the island relied heavily on last-minute bookings and deep discounts. Reports show that accommodation prices dropped by as much as 50 percent by the end of the season, with luxury villas and residences seeing significant price cuts to attract travelers.
