Mykonos urban planning investigation involves police raids

The Hellenic Police and the Internal Affairs Service have conducted raids on the homes of Mykonos Urban Planning Department employees in an investigation into corruption and urban planning violations. Authorities were searching for missing inspection reports and engineering applications related to the legalization of unauthorized constructions.

The absence of these documents has significantly hindered legal proceedings. During a four-day investigation, 35 court cases involving urban planning violations resulted in either acquittals or postponements because the missing files prevented the substantiation of charges.

Additionally, investigators identified a 4 million euro fine that remains uncollected without explanation. Missing documentation in the relevant files has prevented authorities from officially assigning the amount for collection.
