Mykonos workers report poor seasonal labor conditions

Workers in Mykonos have come forward with numerous allegations regarding poor seasonal working conditions on the island. These reports follow a previous controversy involving a four-star hotel providing inadequate breakfast to staff before 12-hour shifts.

New testimonies shared on social media suggest that some businesses charge employees for drinking water at the workplace. Other allegations include managers and owners misappropriating tips intended for staff, and in some instances, workers receiving no tips at all.

Beyond food quality, workers reported broader systemic issues, including 12-hour shifts, six to seven-day work weeks without rest days, and overcrowded, substandard housing. Many individuals have chosen to remain anonymous due to fears of employer retaliation, though some have been encouraged to report these practices to the Labor Inspection Body.
