Myles Kennedy refuses to use AI as a songwriting tool

Myles Kennedy, the frontman for Alter Bridge and singer for Slash, has expressed his refusal to use artificial intelligence as a songwriting tool. During an appearance on SiriusXM’s ‘Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk’, Kennedy argued that using AI would be a form of cheating himself out of the creative process.

Kennedy criticized the technology for utilizing existing work from across the internet to generate new content, questioning the idea of treating such algorithms as collaborators. He described the songwriting process as a ‘great scavenger hunt’ and emphasized that the satisfaction of problem-solving and finding musical elements is akin to ‘finding gold.’

While acknowledging that some musicians may find AI helpful for increasing productivity, Kennedy stated he prefers the ‘old school’ approach, noting that his career has been built on his identity as a songwriter and the obsessive joy he finds in creating new music manually.
