Mylopotamos municipality delivers 1,200 meals to fire‑affected residents in southern Rethymno

Over 1,200 hot meals and hundreds of essential items were collected within hours by the municipality of Mylopotamos on Crete after a large wildfire in southern Rethymno. The supplies were delivered to the Rethymno Fire Service and distributed to firefighters, volunteers and residents in the affected areas.

The effort involved local restaurants, hotels, cultural clubs, community leaders, volunteers, municipal staff and citizens. Part of the food was also sent to the Rethymno nursing home and the “Love” association. Mayor Georgios Klados and Deputy Mayor Zacharias Ladianos thanked participants, described the response as moving, and urged continued vigilance as fire risk remains high.
