Mylor Harbour immigration probe launched after boat landing
An immigration investigation is underway following an incident at Mylor Harbour in Cornwall early Sunday morning, September 27. Police responded to reports of several individuals disembarking from a boat before fleeing the area in a van.
Ten people have been arrested in connection with the incident, including two Albanian nationals detained on suspicion of immigration offences. The remaining eight arrests are believed to have occurred outside the Devon and Cornwall police jurisdiction. One individual, believed to be under 18, has been referred to social services.
A Home Office spokesperson described the event as an ‘isolated and rare incident,’ clarifying that the vessel involved was a small powerboat rather than a large inflatable dinghy. Immigration Enforcement is currently leading the investigation.
