Myofascial Release and Vacuum Breathing Techniques Rise in Fitness Circles
The myofascial release method, promoted by Italian therapist Scarlet Canevari through her Fascia Viva system, targets the body's connective‑tissue network to dissolve emotional‑linked muscular blocks. Canevari explains that the fascia, weighing about 20 kg in an average adult, functions as a living sensory system and can be worked on with rollers, balls and mindful movement.
In parallel, the “vacuum” breathing exercise—an exhalation‑to‑apnea maneuver that pulls the navel toward the spine—has become a viral fitness trend. Trainer Roberta Crescimbini of Milan’s Marilyn’s Workout describes it as a deep activation of the transverse abdominal muscle, rooted in the yoga practice of uddiyana bandha. While it can improve breath control and core stability, Crescimbini warns it is unsuitable during pregnancy and should be introduced gradually after childbirth.
