Myopia rates rise among youth in East and Southeast Asia
The rapid increase of myopia among young people in East and Southeast Asia is becoming a significant public health concern. This trend is closely linked to urbanization, academic pressure, reduced outdoor activities, and modern lifestyle changes.
As digital transformation continues, increased screen time for learning, working, and entertainment makes vision protection a critical necessity for national human resource development. Projections suggest that by 2050, half of the global population will be myopic, with approximately 10% suffering from severe myopia.
